Tell us a bit about SUPERKEEN
Hi! My name is Caragh Keane and I’m the founder of Superkeen Foods. I changed my life completely on the back of a shock Lupus diagnosis back in 2021. I went from being the Captain of the St Andrews netball team to being unable to move due to extreme joint pain and struggled with other symptoms such as severe alopecia and blistered skin. I had to rely heavily on steroids and immunosuppressants and had to turn down my dream teaching position at the time. At twenty five years old I thought that my life was over. I could not accept this fate I she started researching everything I could about health and discovered the vital link between diet, inflammation and gut microbiome.
I am on a mission to create the most inclusive food brand in the UK, and to help others enjoy delicious and nutritious foods, no matter what their dietary requirements are.
As a massive foodie and research nut, I was committed to eating in the most anti-inflammatory and gut friendly way possible and started making my own creations. After just two months I started to heal and no longer relied on any medication. I was awarded an innovation grant by The Growth Hub and the opportunity to work with University in Manchester, to develop a popped cereal using innovative allergen free, gut-friendly ingredients (dairy free, nut free, gluten free etc.). SUPERKEEN cereal is made out of nutrient dense Tiger Nut Flour and Cassava Flour and the coating consists of Date Syrup, Coconut Sugar, Coconut Oil and other flavours such as Cinnamon and Cocoa. SUPERKEEN will also be the first AIP (Autoimmune Protocol) friendly brand in the UK. The brand will be launching this summer on the SUPERKEEN website!

We will be launching in the summer, so keep your eyes peeled on our instagram and on our website! There are exciting plans for the brand, with more exciting flavours to come, protein supplemented cereals being developed and the first of its kind ‘No Nut Nut-Butter’. SUPERKEEN is in the process of achieving pending B-Corporation status and have formed a wonderful partnership with Magic breakfast, an incredible charity which provides nutritious breakfasts to children in need.
